Caroline Walker

Caroline Walker, Measuring (2019), oil on canvas, collection Kunstmuseum Den Haag

Caroline Walker’s (b. 1982, Scotland) largescale canvases and intimate scenes depict anonymous women in settings that blur the boundaries between public and private. Although the paintings hint at possible narratives, their stories are never fully revealed. Walker meticulously determines the position of visual signifiers in these psychologically charged spaces, subverting archetypes of gender and relationships. KM21 presents her first institutional solo show in The Netherlands.
